The talented Girls’ Generation member recently made her solo comeback with “Picture” on August 22. Hyoyeon has been releasing music as a solo artist since 2016 and showcases her many talents as a DJ as well.

The artist admitted that promotions as a solo artist and with Girls’ Generation were vastly different. From her ability to give creative input to how she felt being a member of the group, Hyoyeon got real about her experience as a solo artist versus a member of Girls’ Generation while chatting with Gabee.

Hyoyeon shared that while she was promoting with Girls’ Generation, she “wasn’t too vocal about [her] opinions.

When she did speak up about her opinions, they were weighed against the views of her fellow members, leading to the group going with whatever option the majority of the members wanted.

The Girls’ Generation member admitted that when she promoted with the group, her “heart wasn’t fully into what [she] was doing” sometimes. On the other hand, if a song she liked was picked for the group to promote, she found herself “really into it.

While promoting solo, she enjoys having full creative input and choosing only the songs she wants to perform but acknowledges that the additional responsibilities come with added pressures.

While thinking back to some of Girls’ Generation’s iconic songs, Hyoyeon hilariously revealed that when she didn’t like the song, it almost always became a hit.

She named “Genie,” “Gee,” and “Into The New World” as examples, each one a legendary song within the group’s iconic discography.

While discussing her company, SM Entertainment, she revealed how they select which artist makes their solo debut.
