On August 28, SM Entertainment announced Taeil‘s removal from NCT due to an unspecified sexual crime.
While little has been confirmed regarding the crime, fans were naturally outraged as they feel Taeil’s image of a quiet, nice guy was fabricated all this time. Shortly after the news dropped, netizens resurfaced a clip of KARD‘s BM speaking on DIVE Studios‘ GET REAL podcast. All the podcast hosts at the time were idols, including himself, BTOB‘s Peniel, and LADIES’ CODE‘s Ashley Choi.
The clip is taken from Episode 16, “GIRL TALK with Joan Kim,” initially released in 2020. The context is that the hosts were talking about how quickly Korean entertainment is changing these days.
Peniel had just said, “They have to be like goody two shoes, they have to be perfect… it’s like no one’s perfect,” when BM bluntly told listeners that many of their biases aren’t who they appear to be. He stated, “Some of you will be surprised. Your favorite stan, bias may not be who you think they are. Not trying to crush your dreams but just being real…”
After the recent scandal surrounding Taeil, the video resurfaced, going viral with 407K views at the time of writing on Instagram. Netizens commented, with many praising BM for being “real” and “warning us.”
The video made its way to BM himself. So, he left a comment, reminding netizens that everyone, including himself, is not perfect. He wrote, “Im also not perfect.. although i will try to be better human being, i have my days i lose it like the rest of everyone else. None of us ‘idols’ or ‘celebs’ are any better than anyone cuz we dance sing or rap in front of a camera just sayin. I got a lot to work on too.”
The original poster liked and pinned BM’s comment.
