“my kpop edits 5 years ago:”
Netizens are wondering if Dispatch is drunk or hacked after their latest TikTok posts…
Korean online media outlet Dispatch shared one of their photos taken of SEVENTEEN‘s Vernon at the Gimpo International Airport on his way to Japan via their official TikTok account.
It’s not uncommon for Dispatch to share its photos of K-Pop idols, even on TikTok. So, it seemed normal enough until it appeared that Vernon was being scanned…
Then a heart made out of snowflakes appeared before an edit of Vernon that softened all his features, so it looked digitally painted, appeared, with hearts shooting out from it.
The video went viral in just six hours, with 117.1K views and 21.7K likes at the time of writing.

Netizens are shocked and confused, to say the least. The comments are filled with those asking Dispatch if they are okay.
Some are curious about who is running the account and what is happening.
Similarly, a video edit of CLASS:y‘s Hyungseo went viral with 95.7K views and 10.3K likes, and it got an equal reaction.

Yet, Dispatch has been posting unusual edits made through online, free video editor CapCut for the past couple of weeks. And they’re very interesting…

Numerous edits utilize transitional edits from Dispatch’s high-quality photos of an idol to another image, such as an animated version or even a baby photo.

Yet, some are just straight-up confusing, like this video of NewJeans at the airport…

When Dispatch first started uploading these types of video edits, netizens wondered if it was really Dispatch or not. Some proposed that either the account was hacked or it was a random account.
It definitely puts one in mind of a fan account… But from the past. It’s not even so common for K-Pop fans to make edits like this these days.
All the edits are made through the free video editor CapCut, which is owned by ByteDance, the same parent company as TikTok. It may be some sort of collaboration or partnership between the companies.

Still, some videos are not as hilarious as others…

Whatever the reason, it might be a brilliant tactic to go viral as the surprise of each video warrants tons of comments, and that, especially if mixed with negative, guarantees videos go viral on the video-sharing app.
