SEVENTEEN Accused Of Plagiarising NCT Dream In Scathing Viral Post

Netizens accuse HYBE of using one tactic…

As LE SSERAFIM faces their own set of plagiarism accusations, another group under HYBE has found itself under scrutiny. SEVENTEEN has also been hit with recent allegations that one of their comeback concepts was copied from a previous comeback of SM Entertainment‘s NCT Dream.

In the summer of 2021, NCT Dream made waves when they released their first repackaged album, Hello Future. The title track of the same name quickly went viral for its refreshing feel and concept. Since then, the song has remained one of the most addictive among K-Pop boy groups thanks to its catchy chorus.

Years later, in October 2023, SEVENTEEN released their own hit, “God of Music.” The song — similar to “Hello Future” — had the same feel-good vibes, sound, and vibe.

As such, the two comebacks have now drawn comparisons, with accusations that SEVENTEEN copied the concept from NCT Dream now gaining traction and going viral. One post on TheQoo has garnered nearly 50,000 views and hundreds of comments with netizens shocked at the concept overlaps.

Similar accusations have come up in the past, with fans defending the group, saying that since the two comebacks had a similar creative director and team, they are bound to have similarities. But netizens are more skeptical this time around.

But honestly, no matter if it’s the same director, this goes beyond; even the props, vibe—everything is copied to a ridiculous level.

I get that in K-Pop, some concept overlap is bound to happen over decades, but hiring the same director to make things look almost identical is just too much.

Combined with LE SSERAFIM’s latest accusations of plagiarising Red Velvet—which fans are defending by claiming that the two groups used the same photographer for the concept shoots—netizens are now wondering if HYBE’s go-to tactic is bringing in similar creative staff.
