He quickly named Kai as an accomplice. 😂
SHINee‘s Taemin recently made his long-awaited solo comeback with his fourth mini-album, Guilty, and to celebrate the release, he’s been delighting fans with appearances on multiple talk shows.
One recent appearance was on a newer program called Curator, where Taemin opened up about SHINee’s earlier years, his favorite solo releases, his friendship with EXO‘s Kai, and more.
During the episode, Taemin discussed how he became the first member of SHINee to officially make their solo debut.
He shared that he would often use SM Entertainment‘s practice rooms overnight, working until early morning, which caught the company’s attention.
After earning SM Entertainment’s praise, they extended an offer to him to make his solo debut, and he released his first solo single, “Danger,” in 2014.
Curator host HoonD questioned Taemin, saying he heard there was a rule against staying in the SM Entertainment practice room for an extended period of time, which he acknowledged was true.
Taemin wasn’t the only one who “broke” the rule, as he hilariously named his best friend, EXO‘s Kai, as an accomplice.
The SHINee maknae shared that he loved practicing with Kai. They bonded as similar-aged trainees who both shared a passion and natural talent for dancing.
Taemin revealed that he and Kai would agree to stay the night in the company building, “practicing until dawn together” and sleeping in the vocal training room.
Reflecting on how his trainee days compared with SM Entertainment’s trainees today, he stated that he only wished the company had more practice rooms back then.
Proving his dedication, he revealed he practiced next to the building’s water tank when all the rooms were occupied.
During his talk with BTS‘s Suga on Suchwita, Taemin revealed that there was more to the story about how he made his solo debut.
