Surprising Amount Of Revenue K-Pop Idols Could Lose Because Of AI

AI use can be both good and bad.

Technology is always advancing, and it’s the same in K-Pop, but it has caused some concerns. Recently, the popularity of AI-generated song covers has exploded, with covers garnering thousands of views because of the AI-generated voices of each of the artists seeming like they really did the covers themselves.

K-Pop idols are extremely aware of the impact of AI.

SEVENTEEN even reacted to a viral AI version singing ILLIT‘s “Magnetic” but they have also shared their worries about the technology, with the BBC being criticized for their misinformation on the group’s use of AI for their music.

Recently, the UK publication Music Magpie looked at the impact of AI on musicians and it wasn’t surprising that a lot of K-Pop stars were included in the report.

When it came to the “most streamed AI” artists, there was a huge list that included a lot of K-pop idols. BLACKPINK came in at number one with over 17 million views of AI tracks, and that was followed by BTS‘s Jimin, Jennie, Stray Kids, TWICE, NCT DREAM, and ENHYPEN in the top 20.

BLACKPINK once again topped the table as it was revealed that the group could potentially lose over £375,626 and BABYMONSTER could also suffer with a lost income of over £246,499. Other names on the list included Stray Kids, BTS’s Jungkook, Jennie, and TWICE, all some of the biggest acts potentially losing money because of the use of AI.
