“I couldn’t understand why people [performed] on stage.”
Nearly all K-Pop idols debut with a story of perseverance, hard work, and a dream to sing or dance that they had fostered since they were young.
One K-Pop idol, though, was honest when he admitted that he initially “hated” singing and dancing and couldn’t understand why people had a desire to perform on stage.
This confession surprisingly came from NCT and WayV‘s Ten, who is well-known for his captivating performances and incredible talents, and who competed and won during the Thai competition show Teen Superstar in 2011 and later passed SM Entertainment‘s global competition in 2013.
He explained why he hated the idea of singing and dancing to Urban Zakapa‘s Jo Hyun Ah while filming an episode of her popular YouTube talk show, Thursday Night.
NCT’s Ten explained that he had initially felt “too shy” and didn’t begin dancing until he saw the movie Step Up 2.
He first danced in front of others during his school’s sports day, and after his performance, he “gained some popularity in school.” When he gained attention, he hilariously realized it felt “good to be famous.”
With his increased interest in performing, his grandmother suggested that he also sing, so he began to add to his list of talents when he was 13.
From then on, he embraced his talents and hasn’t looked back. The talented NCT member recently released his first solo album on February 13, Ten.
