What do idols themselves think about it?
A new trend has been circulating amongst K-Pop fans in China. Many are getting their inner lip tattooed with their bias’ name.
Tattoos done inside the mouth generally do not last very long due to saliva and other external debris. This is one of the reasons why fans are less averse to tattooing their idols’ name inside the lip compared to other body parts.
Although the trend is climbing in China, netizens internationally have not taken too kindly to it, especially if the fan shows it off to their idol. A fan showed ENHYPEN‘s Ni-ki her tattoo. Fans speculated from his expression that he was not very welcoming about it.

For idols that particularly do not advise tattooing names, they might have a meltdown. SEVENTEEN‘s The8 is known to advise fans against getting tattoos of their names. Fans joked that if he ever saw his name tattooed on a fan’s lips, he would instantly run away.
i’m going to need all of the c-8stars to sit down, breathe and not be too influenced by fan trends bc i think this would be the final straw for minghao and he would quit seventeen on the spot and move to the middle of a forest somewhere never to be seen again https://t.co/Ld5QPWpgui

The tattoos come in all colors and sizes. A fan got a rainbow one done as Sunoo is her bias.
Despite a few naysayers, most fans in China find it cool. Not only is this trend driven by fans, some idols have also spoken up about them before. aespa‘s Giselle confessed to having one. It went away quickly due to her habit of moving her lips.
