It has been close to a year since NCT‘s Lucas disappeared from the public eye. He was once the shining star of the new generation of idols, winning hearts both in China and South Korea. With his boyish charms and natural good looks, Lucas was starring in variety shows such as Running Man China…
…and was even put into the prized SuperM project group, which was lovingly dubbed the “Avengers” due to its elite member makeup.
His trajectory upwards was halted when a netizen accused him of cheating on her. The claims were fuelled by multiple others that stepped up to claim the same. He later apologized for the controvery through his personal social medias and began his indefinite hiatus.
This is Lucas Wong Yuk Hei. I sincerely apologize to those who’ve been hurt due to my misactions. Please give me an opportunity to apologize. I’m very sorry. Also, I sincerely apologize to my fans who have always been supporting me and caring for me. Sorry for letting you all down.In the past few days, I’ve deeply reflected on the things that I’ve done in the past. I have clearly realized that my mistakes and irresponsible behavior have let my fans, who have always cheered me on and supported me, down. Once again, I sincerely apologize to those who feels disappointed by my actions. I guarantee this will never happen again, and I’ll halt my activities for the next while in order to deeply reflect on my actions. Lastly, I want to apologize to my members, company staff, business partners, and TV show staff for causing inconvenience to everyone with my actions. I’m very sorry.

Half a year later, on February 9, 2022, Lucas updated his social media with a black and white photograph of a sparkling lake.
On August 28, 2022, he updated his Instagram once more, with a scenic picture of a bunch of guys playing by the beach. Likewise, this update came with no caption.
Fans were beyond excited to see Lucas back on social media once again. They peppered his comments with loving and encouraging comments, asking him to return to the industry.
SM Entertainment has not commented on Lucas’s matter or contract ever since his apology in August 2022. It is unclear whether or not he will continue to promote as part of NCT and WayV in the future.
