The principal even said it in front of all Yeonjun’s classmates.
TXT‘s Yeonjun is a K-Pop idol that’s well known for his talent and even earned the title of “Big Hit’s Legendary Trainee” before debuting. But if it were up to the principal from his school days, that wouldn’t have been the case.
Yeonjun shared the time a principal shamed him in front of his classmates just for dreaming about becoming an idol and how his mom stood up for him.
Looking back on his school days, Yeonjun remembered the harsh words a school principal once said to him after opening up about his dream to become an idol.
‘What can you do in the future by dancing a bit and giving up on studying?’
— Yeonjun
The words hurt more for Yeonjun because the principal said them in front of everyone and even contacted his mom. Fortunately, Yeonjun’s mom didn’t share the same viewpoint.
The principal said it in front of other students. It hurt my pride. The principal called my mom too.
— Yeonjun
Yeonjun remembered his “mom felt sad and angry” about what happened. Thinking he’d disappointed his mom, Yeonjun learned the opposite when he came home.
Yeonjun’s mom fully supported his dream. She gave him the green light to focus on succeeding and forgetting about that principal altogether.
I thought my mom would scold me too. But my mom said this: ‘Yeonjun, let’s quit the language institute. Let’s focus on your dancing and singing career.’ I was sorry, but it was so touching.
— Yeonjun
Yeonjun admitted that his mom’s approval of his dance classes led to his success. He said, “I passed the audition as a result.”
Not only did Yeonjun’s mom stand by him when his dream was just starting, but Yeonjun proved that principal wrong by becoming a famous K-Pop idol.
